Dr. Julianna Petrone
Dr. Petrone has a doctorate in clinical social work and is also a licensed clinical social worker in the Georgia and Florida. Dr. Petrone provides services to adults and emerging adults through individual and group counseling. She treats an array of conditions across many populations to include first responders, veterans, spouses of veterans, grief and loss, trauma, complex trauma (childhood and adulthood), anxiety and panic disorders, women’s issues, and combat and military sexual trauma. She has specialized training in trauma and OCD. Dr. Petrone has been trained in Exposure Response Prevention treatment for individuals suffering with OCD and OCD related disorders. She has extended training in treating trauma, grief, anxiety, relational issues, and depression. Dr. Petrone is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing therapy, Written Exposure therapy, and Accelerated Resolution and Internal Family System Therapy which are evidence-based treatment for trauma. She also incorporates stress and anxiety management techniques in her work with most clients.
Dr. Petrone received her PhD in clinical social work from the Institute for Clinical Social Work and her masters degree in clinical social work from Adelphi University. She has over 15 years of experience in treating individuals with various mental health diagnoses. Dr. Petrone incorporates CBT, behavioral and psychodynamic modalities in her practice. Her theoretical influences include social learning theory, cognitive theory, self psychology and relational theory. Dr. Petrone is a member of the NASW (National Association of Social Workers), and IOCDF (International OCD Foundation). She served as a Major and active duty clinical social worker in the USAF for seven years and completed a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Dr. Petrone received General BTTI training in Exposure Response Prevention training for OCD and other related disorders through the Behavior Therapy Training Institute via IOCDF. She is also a certified therapist with advanced training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Dr. Petrone’s post military career in addition to private practice has included clinical roles at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
